HomeGrown
HomeGrown is a competitive program with limited spots for eligible team members seeking to complete one of the following degrees for the first time, while continuing to work at ECU Health:
- Associate degree in nursing (ADN)
- Last two years of Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- First three years of the Regionally Increasing Baccalaureate Nurses (RIBN) Program
- Associate degree in Surgical Technology
- Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology
- Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy
- Associate degree in Radiography
Meeting the eligibility requirements only secures the application for review; it does not guarantee acceptance into the program.
Eligible candidates must be:
- Current, full-time ECU Health team member with at least six months of full-time continuous service.
- High school graduate or equivalent with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 out of a possible 4.0 points.
- Accepted into an accredited traditional associate or bachelor’s degree program that requires less than two years to complete with the exception of RIBN.
- Eligible to participate in clinical rotations if required for degree completion.
- Supported by a minimum of two letters of recommendation from their immediate supervisor, department manager or administrator.
- Seeking a first-time degree (not the progression of the nursing degree) in an approved program.

Nurse Assistant Advancement Program
The Nurse Assistant (NA) Advancement Program is a competitive program that supports current Nurse Assistant I team members in earning their Nurse Assistant II certification. The program offers both work-life balance and financial support to achieve your certification goal. Candidates are chosen based on an application process. With ECU Health providing resources and financial investment toward your completion of the NAII certification, there is a two-year work commitment.

Job Shadowing
ECU Health offers a variety of job-shadowing opportunities for current team members and nonteam members to gain additional exposure to different health care careers and opportunities. Whether you are volunteering or shadowing, it is a great way to gain one-on-one observational experience with a specific role in a health care setting.

Health Sciences Academy
ECU Health hosts Health Sciences Academy for high school students to explore different careers in health care and receive real experiences in the health care setting. ECU Health team members have the opportunity to share with students about their career path, including where they went to school, how long degree programs take and degree/certification requirements for their careers. The program offers scholarships and volunteer hours to eligible students interested in working in health care.
Community Pipeline Programs
The ECU Health Community Pipeline Programs (CPP) builds firm pathways, from job training to obtaining employment, that directly benefit locally marginalized communities. Our DREAM Café is one of our CPP pillars to support you in Discovering, Rebuilding, Educating, Accomplishing and Memorable experiences, including community events, job interview skills support, job fairs and GED classes.
Learning Lab
The Learning Lab program gives ECU Health Medical Center team members the opportunity to earn their high school equivalency through a partnership with Pitt Community College. For eligible team members, a portion of your school time is paid, and you have access to the Learning Lab to complete schoolwork and receive financial assistance to cover program-testing fees. Leadership CORE
ECU Health’s Leadership CORE (Comprehensive and Compassionate Operational and Relational Excellence) is a cohort experience designed to strengthen leadership knowledge and the skills needed to support our health care system’s mission, vision and values. During the program, participants establish relationships with other leaders and create personal development goals aligned with our system’s leadership capacities and competencies.
