- NOTE: If you become disabled during the first 12 months of coverage due to a pre-existing condition, the Long-term Disability Plan may not pay benefits.
Example: When short-term disability (STD) pay begins
- If date of disability is January 15, 2026.
- Waiting period would be January 15-21 (PTO can be used during the seven-day waiting period).
- STD pay (income replacement) begins January 22, 2026.
- STD pay ends April 14, 2026 (90th day of disability)

For residents, this coverage is effective on your date of hire. For all other team members, your effective date of coverage is the first of the month following your date of hire or transferring into a benefit eligible classification.
