Leaving ECU Health

Whether you are pursuing other career opportunities or taking a step back from the workforce, there is information regarding your ECU Health benefits you’ll want to know upon leaving.

What to Expect

  • Medical, Dental and Vision:
    • Coverage will end on the last day of the month in which you leave the organization.
    • In most cases, coverage can be continued under COBRA for up to 18 months.
  • Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA):
    • You have 90 days from your last day of employment to submit eligible claims for reimbursement. Claims must be submitted for services prior to your last day of employment.
    • Health Care FSAs can continue if your Health Care FSA is under COBRA. Dependent Care FSA participation ends on your last day of work.
  • Disability and Life Insurance:
    • Short-term and Long-term Disability ends on your last day of work.
    • Basic and Optional Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance ends on your last day of work. You may be able to transition life insurance coverage (not disability coverage) to an individual policy. Contact Reliance Matrix for more information.
  • Retirement Savings Plans:
  • Other Benefits
    • Tuition Assistance eligibility ends on your last day of work. If you leave ECU Health prior to the completion of your 24-month work commitment, you will be required to repay the prorated balance within 30 days of your termination.
    • Adoption Assistance ends on your last day of work.
    • Team Member Discounts through Beneplace end on your last day of work.
COBRA continuation coverage

Under certain circumstances, after you leave ECU Health or you no longer meet benefits-eligibility requirements, you and your dependents may continue to participate in some ECU Health benefits plans through COBRA continuation coverage. If you have a COBRA qualifying event, you’ll receive information regarding your specific coverage rights.
